Lit – Seven Bar At Cherokee Casino – West Siloam Springs, OK – 12/28/24

The last show of 2024 for Lit was a one-off show in probably the most unlikely location in the country along with where the stage was located. Lit closed out the year in West Siloam Springs, OK at the Cherokee Casino above one of their bars in the casino. I don’t know how the casino rigged a stage up there but Lit pulled it off. From outside the bar, you could be gambling a decent distance away and hear their music while seeing them moving around on stage. Regardless of the setup, Lit looked to be having fun on stage even if bassist Kevin Baldes mentioned he felt like he might step over by accident and fall off the stage. There was definitely a fear factor during the show, but I think their minimal jumps on stage eased that fear.

For an hour Lit played a greatest hits sort of set list with a good portion of songs from Atomic, A Place In The Sun, and their most recent release Tastes Like Gold. The previous times I’ve seen them they did add in some material from their country album, These Are The Days, but it seemed like they wanted to keep this set to the rock/pop rock songs. Also added in their set was a cover of Tom Petty’s “American Girl” and The Cars “Let’s Go”, for a casino crowd this set pleased the fans that did show up and just the regular chain-smoking gamblers. They probably caught them themselves singing along not realizing the actual band was right there, and the show was completely free, at least you are winning with a free show.

The best part of the night was hearing Lit play a new song entitled “Sick Of Me Too”. There latest release, Tastes Like Gold, brought them back to their more pop rock sound similar to Atomic, and this song sounded like an extension to that album. The new song had that catchy chorus, tongue in cheek lyrics and of course a ripping guitar solo. I am sure in 2025 we will hear more about this song and possibility album release, but the only taste we got of new material was from this song. Even though this was their last show of 2024, it won’t be long till they are back on the road for they have a tour starting in January with Fuel with more dates to come. Already 2025 is starting off right and busy for Lit, cheers to that!
