Brian Fallon came home. For two nights, February 3rd and 4th, Brian Fallon sold out House Of Independents in Asbury Park, NJ. Opening each night was friend, The Crowes guitarist, The Scandals lead singer, and countless other titles, Jared Hart. Jared opened with “Guillotine”, from his solo album Past Lives & Past Lines, and then mixed in some Scandals songs, a new song, Bob Dylan cover, and a duet. His last song, The Leo, actually featured back up harmony vocals from Casey Macalush. Not a bad way to end a set. Jared will be on a mini tour with Cory Branan in April, make sure to check out a date. If not listen/purchase his solo album below.
Brian came out smiling, and his smile never went away, even during his sadder songs, his smile came through. For the second night at House of Independents, one would think Brian was smiling because he was comfortable, he was at a familiar spot, Asbury Park. Playing a 15 song set, Brian actually covered three Gaslight Anthem songs, a Bob Dylan cover, but no Horrible Crowes. I don’t think anyone was complaining, because fans attend his shows not only for the music, but for the storytelling. Brian touched on his progress on LP #2, if he finally gets that big hit and what his stage show would be like, and music. Of course there is one person that does heckling, but unlike other musicians, Brian just tells them nicely this isn’t your time. We can only hope there will be more shows this year, and who knows maybe a new album?
