The other side of this site will deal with pictures I have taken on my travels. Granted, I haven’t traveled to far off distance lands like Australia, Antarctica, or that little area north of me called Canada, but I hope to one day. What I have done though is traveled the U.S. with miscellaneous bands. Those pictures won’t be seen here though, for they aren’t great looking.
Touring wasn’t what got me into photography though. Actually the reasoning I got into photography isn’t that influential. I have always enjoyed looking at photos, but the main reason I started taking my own photos was for computer desktops. I would always change my desktop background at work with a Google image featuring nature, autumn, or anything I saw fit. Eventually it seemed like I ran out of searches and decided to take it upon myself to supply my desktop with images. Touching story I know.
It started out with a few pictures, and eventually led into too many pictures. Then my appetite for more pictures and travelling started to become overpowering. I guess you can say it turned into a hobby, and I couldn’t have it any other way. Some places I have been to still surprise me that I was actually there.
Eventually more people outside of my group of friends started to see my photos, and the response was good. Unless people are just being nice, either way, I took the plunge to share my photos with the outside world.
I will mention, and always mention, I am by no means a photographer. What I post, some people will probably rip apart and say this is nothing and Instagram is better. This is fine, because I am not a photographer. I will post my thoughts and where the photo was taken, and by all means, get out there and photograph a better version!
Art is about how you interpret it, and what you may see as bad art, may be great art to another.
I figured for the first photo; why not talk about my header photo? This is one my favorite photos that I have taken. So much so that I even got a 16 x 20 print of it.
I used to pass this location almost every day to get to school, work, or anyplace and always looked down it. Looking for what? I don’t know. I should mention that most of my photos are like this photo. You have a center point and a path or road stretches for what seems like forever. I should probably look into this, it might mean something. Maybe it is some sort of psychological thing, or maybe it is the image I get when I read the poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. Whatever the case is, my favorite photos are these types.
I also think I enjoy this photo because of the trees. It should also be known that the season of autumn is by far my favorite time of year. The beauty in dead trees may seem a little morbid, but to me it is the true showing of a tree. The way the branches are twisting and turning in every different direction fascinate me. Also it reminds me of Halloween and haunted houses, which we might get into some other time.
I should note that when this photo was taken, there wasn’t much around this pathway. Now a few feet to the left is a park and if I remember correctly, the land around it is for sale. The road it is located on doesn’t have much besides an abandon house and a horse farm.
The location is in Northampton, PA. The road is called Willowbrook Road. The road is a just that, a road that goes for at least 2 or 3 miles with some side roads and landmarks. You shouldn’t stop on the road though, for there isn’t any room to park, and there are “no trespassing” signs. If you do stop on the road for a quick look, you didn’t hear about the location from me.
