EURAKA!  In my second to last post, I mentioned I was searching for my style of photography.  I think I am getting closer to what I am searching for, but I still have a long journey.  Not to mention learning more about photography.  Sure, others will have better photos than mine, but what I shoot is mine.  I didn’t pick up a camera to impress anyone.  I did it to show everyone that there is beauty in everything we see.  At least that is how I look at the world.

My latest discovery was in Mansfield, New Jersey.  They always say one small change can alter the universe.  In my case it is one small change to my job can change everything.  I have three different ways I can go to work, and the one way recently put up a detour.  This detour takes me through a very run down and strange neighborhood.  The weird part is I was always so close to it, but never knew about it.  If it wasn’t for this detour I’d never known.

There are still occupied houses, but for the most part there are a lot of abandoned houses and farms all with “No Trespassing” signs.  The day was getting late and I tried to capture as much as I could without going inside of any of the buildings.  Because of the detour, this area now has a lot of foot traffic and being spotted is extremely guaranteed.

I did find out through fellow work associates that the area was a black community way back when and was promised work from a new railroad system.  Unfortunately the railroad never came, and everyone stayed.  However when people started to pass away or leave, the houses were left to face their demise.  Most of the land has been sold to be used for whatever purpose someone seems fit. Who knows though, like everything else in New Jersey, most abandoned structures sit and wait for that fateful day that never comes.
