Big Bad Voodoo Daddy brought their swinging sound to the Mohegan Sun at the Pocono Downs in Wilkes Barre, PA. From Easton to Bethlehem to Hazelton and now Wilkes Barre I’ve seen Big Bad Voodoo Daddy all around the Northeastern side of Pennsylvania. With each performance, they seem to shine brighter and brighter. Their set for the Wilkes Barre show consisted of songs off of each album except This Beautiful Life, wouldn’t mind hearing “When It Comes to Love” in their set though. There was a heavy emphasis on their self-titled album and their latest album Rattle Them Bones. A few surprises like when the entire band gets in a row during “Zig Zaggity Woop Woop” and “Mambo Swing”.
It is always refreshing to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy live. They are trained musicians playing real music that gets even the oldest person in attendance up and dancing. The two couples on the dance floor were a young couple no younger than 20 it seemed while the second couple was in their 60’s. They both danced the night away.
Now I don’t want to spoil anything, but if you haven’t seen Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, I highly suggest doing so as soon as possible. The newest thing they do in their set is during the end of “So-Long-Farwell-Goodbye”. I won’t explain it here, but if you see them live you’ll understand. It is a nice “sweet” ending.
