Musikfest brought Philly’s newest soul/rock band to Bethlehem’s main street and from evening to night had the crowd singing and dancing. The Dull Blue Lights, who were formally called The Snails, are no strangers to the Lehigh Valley, but this was their first time playing the nation’s largest free festival, Musikfest. Performing two sets, about a hour and some each, The Dull Blue Lights prove they are a well oiled machine. As the sets got later and later the band still sounded tight and the only difference was the crowd got bigger and bigger. The Dull Blue Lights’ set consisted of many covers across the music spectrum and their own material. As a new band, they only have one album out, a self titled, but a few Snails songs made their way into the set. New life is being brought into the gentlemen of Dull Blue Lights and they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. Guitarist Tim Hildebrand even played the whole night in a cast. In this day and age, new bands are a dozen and a lot never get heard or are overlooked. However, the Dull Blue Lights are a band you don’t want to skip over, take a listen below and if you like what you hear, purchase the album. Support all music, especially the independent ones.
