My first concert of 2016 and it was a great way to start the New Year. My first time at Sellersville Theater and I hope not my last. Opening the show was local band Swing That Cat from Wenonah, NJ. Fronted by Michele Peraino and her eight piece band, Swing That Cat brings you back to the 1920’s with their jazzy, swing music. With some originals and covers, Swing That Cat had the audience up and dancing to their great tunes. It is great to see a local band keeping this style of music alive and I hope it continues.
This is my second time seeing Cherry Poppin’ Daddies and I knew the performance was going to electrifying. Steve Perry is still a perfect front man that will keep the crowd entertained with his dance moves and facial expression. The band played about a 25 song setlist featuring some of their popular songs, Rat Pack covers, and in the middle of their set some songs off their new album The Boop-A-Doo. Which is covers from the 1920’s. They also played a few ska songs which was different for them in their set. The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies played so hard they accidently broke a little bit of Sellersville Theater’s stage, hopefully that didn’t come off their guarantee. Seems Cherry Poppin’ Daddies are gaining speed again and listeners are noticing this band is here to stay.
