2016 is shaping up to be a good year, concert wise. My second show of the year and it is going to be hard to top this. First off, Banditos is a band everyone should watch for. With their southern rock sound and amazing guitar playing, Banditos is picking up after bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd. With a 45 minute set, I think everyone in the crowd was impressed with what was presented to them. I think my parents would’ve became big fans. This is a band that is a must see and hear.
If I had it my way, I’d watch St. Paul & The Broken Bones perform everyday. Even with only one album out, they managed to fill their almost 2 hour performance with covers from The Beatles, Van Morrison and more. During “Broken Bones And Pocket Change”, a favorite of mine I might add, lead singer Paul Janeway wanted to see the New Jersey crowd and performed on the middle bar at The Stone Pony. The guys were very excited to play New Jersey, let it be from not being in the area in a long time or maybe from playing pinball all day, they were in very high spirits. Towards the end of their Paul went side stage and got on his knees to sing and proceed to take his shoe of and hit the stage. Then walked off stage. It was an intense and amazing moment. As a frontman, he gives his all in every show and leaves you amazed. A band like this needs to be huge, they have the talent, the stage presence, and also the best songs. They did mention two things at the show, one the new record should be out this year and two it looks like a tour is being booked because they may be back at the Stone Pony Summer Stage. If that is the case, my summer is going to be one to remember.
