New Orleans came to New York and for that we are forever grateful. The city of New Orleans is a magical, cultural, musical, and mysterious place. Nothing can replicate it, sorry Popeyes. However, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band can tour with it, well the music at least, and make you feel like you are down there walking Bourbon Street or touring the swamps. Preservation Hall is a place to visit while down in New Orleans, but if you can’t make it the Preservation Hall Jazz Band may fill that void. The New Orleans gentlemen played a high energy, dance-able, jazzy set at Highline Ballroom in New York. Their latest effort So It Is showcases the best jazz music to come out in the past few years and this show wasn’t missing any of those tunes. For over an hour and a half, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band had the sold out crowd moving, grooving, and clapping along to each number. Lyrics weren’t needed for this night because the power of music brought everyone together in high hopes. If you need your New Orleans fix or want to know what New Orleans is about, catch the Preservation Hall Jazz Band when they come through your town you won’t be disappointed at all.
